Spay/Neuter for Owned Cats and Dogs

Kitsap Humane Society offers low-cost spay/neuter surgery for cats and dogs to Kitsap County pet owners (and some Mason County pet owners) that meet our annual income guidelines.

Low-cost Spay/Neuter Deposit

A small deposit will be required when you make an appointment to reserve your pet’s surgery ($15 for cats, $30 for dogs).  Your deposit will be deducted from your balance due on the day of surgery. If you have a voucher for the surgery, your deposit will be refunded when you present your voucher on the day of surgery.

Cancellations – If you need to cancel your pet’s appointment, please notify us no later than 24 hours before the surgery date and your deposit will be refunded.  Late cancellations or no-shows will forfeit their deposit.

Does my pet qualify?

• Owners must be residents of Kitsap County or a Mason County resident who has been the recipient of a Mason County Certificate from a partnering organization.
• Owners must meet annual income guidelines of $74,100 or less for a three-person family and $82,300 for a four-person family.
• Your pet must be at least 8 weeks of age, over 2 lbs., and not older than 7 years of age.
• All dogs must be under 75 pounds.
• All pets must be free from known health problems.

Surgery Information

• You will drop off your pet between 7:15 – 8:00 a.m. on the day of surgery at the Russ and Linda Young Veterinary Lifesaving Center
  • All dogs over 6 months must have a leash and collar (no harnesses please).
  • All cats/kittens must be in hard-sided carriers.
  • NO wire crates will be accepted as kennels for cats.
  • One cat per kennel.
  • If an inappropriate kennel is brought, there will be a $30 rental fee to use one of KHS’ crates (refundable upon return).
• You will be given a pick-up time between 3 and 5 p.m.
• Do not feed your pet anything after midnight the night before surgery (water is OK)
• Low-cost vaccinations and microchipping can be added to your pet’s visit
• You will receive more detailed instructions about our drop off and pick up protocols to protect you and our staff during COVID 19 when your appointment is confirmed.

How Much Does it Cost?

We are here to help! If you are experiencing financial difficulty in affording to have your pet spayed or neutered through our low-cost program, please contact us to find out about programs you may qualify for.

*Payment is due at time of pick-up but you can pay day of surgery prior to pick up via email for your convenience and ease. All surgery costs must be paid in full day of surgery.  Cash and credit cards accepted. No checks please.
